Why 3.3: This is a genuine Le Mans-winning chassis wearing road equipment — low, deafening, and about as unfiltered as anything that ever wore license plates. Fewer than a hundred Mk I/Mk III road cars were built, and with real examples now trading for seven and eight figures, this is the rarest car most owners will ever see driven, let alone drive.

The long version

Ford built the GT40 with one instruction — beat Ferrari at Le Mans — and the handful of road-legal Mk I cars that followed the racing program were never really designed to be lived with, just tolerated by people determined to own the car that ended Ferrari's Le Mans streak. That competition pedigree is exactly what keeps it out of daily use today: a genuine GT40 is closer in value to a piece of motorsport history than a car, and owners treat it that way, with demonstration laps at Goodwood or Le Mans Classic standing in for anything resembling real mileage. It is, unusually for this list, occasionally still driven in period-correct anger at historic events — just never on the road.
