Why 4.3: A turbocharged, all-wheel-drive compact pickup that beat a Ferrari 348 to 60 mph in period tests — GMC's fastest-in-a-straight-line joke, played for one model year. No manual was ever offered, and the joke aged into a five-figure collectible.

Sound

The 4.3 turbo V6 shares the whistle and the uneven six-cylinder beat with the Buick, and it is genuinely strange to hear from a pickup. But it is a truck exhaust on a 4,500 rpm engine with no acoustic work behind it. Quieter and duller than the GNX.

Child seats · ISOFIX

Anywhere in the carNot available

Built before ISOFIX existed, so there are no anchor points at all. A child seat here is a seatbelt installation in the only passenger seat there is.

Derived from production years and seating layout, not a per-car source. ISOFIX was standardised as ISO 13216 in 1997, required on new EU model types from 2011 and on all new EU cars from 2014.

The long version

GMC built this by stuffing a turbocharged, intercooled V6 and a first-for-a-pickup all-wheel-drive system into a compact truck bed nobody expected to see at a stoplight showdown, and period road tests confirmed it could embarrass genuine exotics in a straight line, which is most of why it still gets talked about. Values stayed low for a long stretch because it was, on paper, still a small GMC pickup, and plenty got used exactly like one, hauling mulch on the way to a drag strip on the weekend. That utility-truck ordinariness is fading now that clean survivors pull collector prices a 1995 Syclone owner would not have believed.
